Wydad Goalkeeper Apologizes for Violent Conduct in Moroccan League Match

The day after his unsportsmanlike gesture against the AS FAR player, Lamine Diakité, the Wydad goalkeeper, Reda Tagnaouti, apologized to the club’s supporters and also to Moroccans.
On Thursday, Wydad was soundly beaten (3-0) by AS FAR in a match counting for the 9th day of the Botola Pro. During the match, Reda Tagnaouti received a red card and was sent off for violently striking the AS FAR player, Lamine Diakité. This unsportsmanlike behavior sparked the outrage of the club’s supporters and many Internet users.
It was on his Instagram account that the goalkeeper took the time to apologize. "I acknowledge that the mistake I made was out of haste and due to the pressure of the match. I apologize to the player, with whom we share the same passion and sense of fair play," he wrote.
And to add: "Committing unsportsmanlike acts is not part of my education and my principles. I, Reda Tagnaouti, as the goalkeeper of Wydad and the national team, apologize to all Moroccan and Wydad supporters for any behavior that goes beyond its sporting framework."
