Wydad Casablanca Clinches Third CAF Champions League Title, Defeats Al Ahly 2-0

After 2017, Wydad Casablanca repeated the feat by winning the CAF Champions League final on Monday evening, against Al Ahly of Egypt (2-0).
This is the second time Wydad has won a final against Al Ahly, thus winning its third continental crown. The match took place at the Mohammed V complex. The Casablanca club owes its salvation to Zouheir El Moutaraji, author of the brace that dashed the hopes of the Egyptian players who thought they could lift the trophy this year after being deprived of it in 2017 by the same club.
The final was played in front of more than 40,000 supporters and a host of personalities including Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF, Fouzi Lekjaâ, President of the FRMF. FC Barcelona player Ousmane Dembele, Mohamed Timoumi, and many others were also present.
After taking the lead, the Casablanca players blocked all the outlets that could have allowed the Egyptians to have chances.
Wydad thus wins its third Champions League and equals Raja of Casablanca. Walid Regragui and his protégés now aim for a consecration in Botola Pro Inwi D1, in the Throne Cup, as well as the African Super Cup which they will play against Renaissance de Berkane. By winning the CAF Champions League, the WAC has also guaranteed its second participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, as African champions.
