World record in Morocco: Renault pushes the limits of the electric car

It was on Moroccan asphalt that Renault wrote a new page in its electric history. The French manufacturer has just set an impressive efficiency record with its "Filante Record 2025" prototype, covering more than 1,000 km without recharging on the tracks of the Kingdom, confirming the country’s potential as a cutting-edge automotive test ground.

The feat was accomplished on December 18th last on the UTAC circuit in Morocco. The three drivers of the group, Laurent Hurgon, Constance Léraud-Reyser and Arthur Ferriere, took turns to complete 1,008 km in less than ten hours (9 hours and 52 minutes of actual driving). The challenge was to maintain a motorway pace: a successful bet with an average speed of 102 km/h, all without going through the recharging phase.

The technical performance is remarkable. Equipped with the 87 kWh battery of the Scénic E-Tech, the prototype displayed a record consumption of only 7.8 kWh/100 km. For comparison, market references like the Tesla Model 3 consume much more in similar conditions. At the end of the day, the "Filante" still had 11% of battery left, enough to cover about 120 additional km. This full-scale test on Moroccan soil will serve as a laboratory for the development of the brand’s future production models.
