Winter Storm Hits Morocco: Heavy Rain and Snow Alert Issued for Multiple Provinces

The National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) announced on Tuesday that several provinces of Morocco will experience heavy, sometimes thundery, rain, locally heavy thunderstorms and snowfall.
The DMN, in its special bulletin, explains that there will be heavy, sometimes thundery, rain at the orange level (50-80 mm) recorded from Tuesday at 11 a.m. to Wednesday at 3 a.m. in Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Nador, Driouech and Tetouan. The same phenomenon will be observed from Tuesday at 6 p.m. to Wednesday at 3 a.m. in Berkane, Taza, Guercif, Sefrou, Ifrane, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Taounate and Fez, the same source added.
In addition, snowfall (above 2,000 m) is expected from Tuesday at 11 a.m. to Wednesday at 6 a.m. in Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Boulemane, Chichaoua, Ifrane and Midelt, the bulletin notes. Locally moderate thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim and Essaouira, the DMN noted, adding that thunderstorms may be accompanied in places by hail or gusty winds.
