Morocco Issues Orange Alert: Strong Winds and Thunderstorms to Hit Multiple Provinces
Weather alert in Morocco. The National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) announces strong gusts of wind at the orange level and locally heavy thunderstorms, on Wednesday and Thursday, in several provinces in the Kingdom.
Strong gusts of wind (75 to 90 km/h) are thus expected, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the provinces of Marrakech, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, Rhamna, Al-Haouz, Azilal, Beni-Mellal, Kelaa des Sraghna, Fquih-BenSaleh, Khouribga, Taounate, Taza, Sefrou, Meknès, Fès, El Hajeb, Khemisset, Ifrane and Boulmane, specifies the National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) in a special weather bulletin.
The provinces of Taourirt, Jerada, Guercif, Oujda, Essaouia, Safi, Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Berrechid, Nouasseur, Casablanca, Medioua, Benslimane, Mohammedia, Skhirat-Temara, Rabat-Salé, Settat and Ouarzzazate, are also concerned, adds the same source.
At the same time, fairly strong gusts of wind (60 to 70 km/h) are expected, during the same validity, in the provinces of Taroudant, Tata, Guelmim, Tiznit, Midelt, Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Sidi Kacem, Khénifra, Zagora, Errachidia and Tinghir, the DMN points out. According to the department, these gusts could resume on Thursday on the northern and central plains and on the southeast.
