Severe Weather Hits Morocco: Strong Winds and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Kingdom
New weather alert in Morocco. According to the National Meteorology Directorate (DMN), strong gusts of orange level and thunderstorms are expected today and tomorrow in a large part of the kingdom.
Strong gusts of 75 to 90 km/h are expected today until midnight in Azilal, Safi, Ifrane, El Jadida, El Hajeb, Al-Haouz, Khemisset, Casablanca, Rabat, Essaouira, Mohammedia, Nouasseur, Youssoufia, Berrechid, Benslimane, Beni-Mellal, Boulmane and Taza. This will also be the case in Taourirt, Taounate, Skhirat-Temara, Jerada, Khouribga, Rhamna, Settat, Salé, Sidi Bennour, Chichaoua, Sefrou, Guercif, Fès, Fquih BenSaleh, Kelaa des Sraghna, Mediouna, Marrakech, Meknès, Moulay Yaacoub, Oujda-Angad, Figuig, Midelt and Ouarzazate.
Fairly strong gusts of 60 to 70 km/h are also expected until tonight at midnight, in Taroudant, Tata, Guelmim, Tiznit, Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Sidi Kacem, Khénifra, Zagora, Errachidia and Tinghir, the DMN specifies in a special bulletin.
Tomorrow, the alert for strong gusts concerns the northern and central plains, the reliefs and the southeast, as well as Hamna and Tensift.
In addition, thunderstorms are expected until tomorrow 6 am in Azilal, Al Haouz, Béni Mellal, Khénifra, Ifrane, Sefrou, Taza, Boulemane, Guercif, Taourirt, Nador, Berkane, Driouech and Oujda, it is also indicated. In Tanger-Asilah, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Safi and Essaouira, they are expected until tomorrow at 10 am.
The DMN warns that these showers will be accompanied by gusts of wind and hail in places in El Jadida, Safi, Rabat-Salé, Fès, El Hajeb and Khemisset.
