Severe Weather Alert: Morocco Braces for Thunderstorms and Mountain Snow

Several provinces will be affected from Friday to Sunday by heavy thunderstorms at the orange level and snowfall (1,500 m), warns the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
These heavy thunderstorms at the orange level (20 to 35 mm) are expected this Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the provinces of Essaouira, Tangier, Larache, Safi, Casablanca and El Jadida.
In a weather alert bulletin, the DGM specified that the same phenomenon could be observed from Friday at 6 p.m. to Saturday at 10 a.m. in the provinces of Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khouribga, Khénifra, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Taounate and Khémisset. These showers of up to 70 mm will be locally accompanied by hail and locally heavy showers in the provinces of Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Tangier, M’diq-Fnideq, Driouch and Fahs-Anjra.
On Friday and Saturday, gusts of wind sometimes quite strong up to 70 mm are to be feared on the central plains, the southern provinces, the Mediterranean and the Oriental.
In addition, orange-level snowfall (15 to 30 cm) in 24 hours will be recorded from Friday at 3 p.m. to Sunday in the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, Midelt, Béni Mellal, Ifrane, Boulemane, Errachidia, Ouarzazate and Tinghir.
