Heavy Rain and Snow to Hit Multiple Moroccan Provinces This Weekend
Several provinces of the kingdom will be affected from Saturday to Monday by heavy showers sometimes thunderstorms and snowfall, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said.
In an alert bulletin, the DGM specified that these heavy thunderstorms of orange level up to 40 mm are expected, Saturday until 11 pm in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Khémisset, Khouribga and Zagora.
From Sunday at 3 pm to Monday at 7 am, heavy thunderstorms up to 60 mm accompanied locally by hail are to be feared in the provinces of Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khémisset, Kénitra, Larache, Ouezzane, Chefchaouen, Tétouan and Mdiq-Fnideq.
Moderate thunderstorms up to 25 mm are expected Saturday until 8 pm in the provinces and prefectures of El Hajeb, Meknès, Fès, Settat and Youssoufia, and Sunday from 4 pm to 11 pm in the provinces of Khouribga, Settat, Fqih Ben Salah, El Kelaa des Sraghna and Rehamna.
As for the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Chichaoua, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Taroudant and Tinghir, they will be affected, Saturday and Sunday by snowfall up to 1,400 m (10 to 30 cm). In addition, light snowfall (10 to 15 cm) is also recorded during the same period in the Middle Atlas reliefs (Ifrane and Boulmane).
