Heavy Snowfall and Thunderstorms to Hit Morocco: Weather Alert Issued

Morocco should experience heavy thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday as well as snowfall from Thursday to Saturday in several provinces, according to a press release from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
These heavy thunderstorms at the orange level up to 70 mm are expected from Thursday, February 25 at 6 pm to Friday, February 26 at 8 pm in the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Rehamna, Taroudant and Youssoufia, specifies an alert bulletin from the DGM.
During the same period, moderate and sometimes thundery showers accompanied by hail up to 35 mm are to be feared in the provinces of Béni Mellal, Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Essaouira, Fquih Ben Salah, Khemisset, Khouribga, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Rabat, Safi, Salé, Settat, Skhirat-Temara, Tata and Tinghir, adds the DGM.
As for the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Boulemane, Chichaoua, Ifrane, Khénifra, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Taroudant and Tinghir, they will be affected, from Thursday at 6 pm to Saturday at 11 pm, by snowfall at the orange level of vigilance (20 to 50 cm in 24 hours) up to 1,400 m.
