Heavy Snowfall and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Morocco Through Wednesday

This week is expected to bring snowfall and locally heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rains in several provinces of the kingdom, the National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) said on Sunday.
Another snowy week is looming in the kingdom. According to the DMN, snowfall could reach 10 to 40cm from Monday at 12 p.m. to Wednesday at 12 p.m. The regions of Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Boulemane, Chichaoua, Ifrane, Midelt, Taroudant and Tinghir are affected by this orange level snowfall.
In addition to snow, locally heavy thunderstorms of orange level are also expected, Monday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Boulemane, Chichaoua, Guercif, Ifrane, Jerada, Khenifra, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Taourirt, Taroudant and Tinghir.
The weather report also forecasts heavy rains of orange level (50 to 80 mm) from Monday at 6 p.m. to Wednesday at 6 a.m. in Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, M’Diq-Fnideq and Tetouan.
As for the provinces of Guelmim, Tan Tan, Tarfaya, Laâyoune, Smara and Assa-Zag, they will record locally moderate thunderstorms on Monday from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hail or gusty winds under storms are expected in places in the kingdom. As for the estimated rainfall totals, they may be locally exceeded, concludes the DMN.
