Winter Storm Brings Snow and Freezing Temperatures to Morocco’s Mountains

For those who think the good days are (already) back, they are greatly mistaken. The National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) forecasts snow and cold for this Friday and Saturday.
Thus, significant snowfall is expected until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow above 1,400 meters in the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Boulemane, Ifrane, Khenifra, Midelt, Sefrou, Al Houceima, Chichaoua and Taza.
Several other regions will also be affected by rain for a good part of the weekend, including Tangier, Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, Tetouan, Larache, Mdieq, Fnideq, Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Kenitra, Rabat, Salé, Taza, Sefrou, Taounate, Al Houceima, El Hajeb, Khemisset, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Kelaat Seraghna, Fquih Ben Saleh, Al Haouz, Tiznit and Chtouka Ait Baha, according to this DMN bulletin.
In terms of temperatures, don’t forget to bring out the down jackets. Indeed, -5 degrees to 0 degrees are expected on the reliefs and eastern high plateaus, according to DMN.
And for those who thought it was over, DMN forecasts wind gusts of up to 90 km/h until Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in Tangier, Assilah, Fahs Anjra, Mdiq, Fnideq, Tetouan, Nador, Ouezzane, Chefchaouen, Taza, Taounate, Guercif, Boulemane, Taourirt, Al Haouz, Figuig, Taroudant and Chtouka Ait Baha.
So check before taking the boat in Tangier City and Ceuta, as it is very likely to be delayed or even canceled.
