Winter Storm Brings Heavy Snow and Strong Winds to Multiple Moroccan Provinces

Snow (1,300 m) and sometimes strong gusts of wind, at the orange level, are expected on Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17 in several prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom, warns the National Meteorology Directorate (DMN).
The provinces of Ifrane, Khenifra, Midelt, Boulemane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, El Haouz and the heights of Chichaoua, Taroudant, Tinghir, El Hajeb, Sefrou and Taza will record snowfall (15-50 cm) from Monday at 4:00 pm to Tuesday at 12:00 am, specifies the DMN.
As for the regions of Essaouira, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Berrechid, Nouaceur, Mediouna, Casablanca, Settat, Rhamna, Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Fqih Bensaleh, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Ifrane, El Haouz, Azilal, Mohammedia, Benslimane, Skhirate, Témara, Rabat-Salé, Kénitra, Larache, Tangier, Asilah, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Midelt Figuig, Taourirt, Jerada and Oujda, they will be hit by strong gusts of wind, sometimes strong (75 to 90 km/h) between 6:00 am and 12:00 am.
The same source reports that gusts of wind, sometimes strong (75 to 85 km/h), will hit from 00:00 to 21:00 in the provinces of Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Chtouka Aït Baha, Taroudant, Midelt, Boulemane, Figuig, Taza, Guercif, Taourirt, Jerada, Oujda, Berkane and Nador.
However, moderate to locally heavy rains will be recorded on Monday in the provinces of Safi, Essaouira, Agadir Ida outanane, Inzegan-Ait Melloul, Chtouka Aït Baha, Taroudant, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Taounate, Ouezzane and Larache, the DMN reports.
