West Ham Signs Moroccan Defender Nayef Aguerd in £30 Million Deal

Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd has just joined West Ham on a five-year contract. The announcement was made official by the English club in a press release on its official website.
Nayef Aguerd is joining the Premier League from Rennes. It is a five-year contract for a fee of 30 million pounds sterling. With this transfer amount, he becomes the second most expensive signing in the club’s history and the most expensive defender, ahead of Kurt Zouma.
The Moroccan international bid farewell to Rennes supporters in a social media post. For him, leaving Rennes for another club was a "difficult decision", because he experienced "exceptional moments" there.
Regarding his new adventure, the Atlas Lion says he is motivated and especially honored to be part of the English club. "West Ham is a historic club. I’ve seen some of their games this year, the atmosphere with the fans. Everything was fantastic. I discussed with the coach who was very excited about my profile. So the choice to come to West Ham was a natural one."
"I am delighted to welcome Nayef to West Ham United. We have been tracking his progress for some time and I am very pleased that we have been able to conclude a deal that makes him an important part of our team," said David Moyes, the club’s manager.
