West Ham Seeks £30M for Aguerd, Eyes Bundesliga Defenders as Replacements

The days of Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd at West Ham are numbered. The English club would like to recruit two players during the January transfer window to replace the Atlas Lion.
Is it the end of the road for Nayef Aguerd and West Ham? The English club is considering parting ways with its Moroccan central defender. The Hammers are expecting a £30 million offer for the 27-year-old player. West Ham manager David Moyes has Bundesliga defenders Jonathan Tah and Dan-Axel Zagadou in his sights as potential replacements. West Ham could bet more on the recruitment of Tah, who is currently an essential element of Bayer Leverkusen’s potential title-winning team under Xabi Alonso, than on the French defender Zagadou. The latter joined VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund last season and has quickly proven himself up to the task.
Nayef Aguerd is in difficulty. Due to his illness, he did not travel with West Ham, who beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Emirates on Thursday evening. "He is sick," David Moyes recently said, however without giving more details on the duration of the Moroccan international’s absence.
Arrived at West Ham in June 2022 from Rennes as part of a £26.7 million contract, Nayef Aguerd has put in some impressive performances in London. He notably scored the only goal of the match against Southampton in April in the 25th minute, thus saving his club from relegation. The Hammers had moved from 19th to 14th place, which allowed them to get out of the relegation zone. The 27-year-old player also helped his club win the Europa Conference League. During the summer transfer window, several Premier League clubs, as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia, expressed interest in the Atlas Lion, but he preferred to stay in London.
