Wealthy Businessman Kidnapped in Rabat: Two Suspects Arrested in Ransom Plot
The anti-gang brigade of the judicial police of the prefecture of Rabat arrested two young men suspected of having kidnapped and attempted to assassinate a very wealthy businessman. They had demanded a ransom for the release of the sexagenarian.
It all started with a complaint filed by the relatives of a very wealthy businessman against individuals. These are two young men born respectively in 1987 and 2000 who had attacked the luxurious villa of a 60-year-old very wealthy businessman in the Hay Ryad district of Rabat, reports Al Akhbar. They had kidnapped the sexagenarian, tried to assassinate him, and then demanded a ransom from his family.
The elements of the anti-gang brigade of the judicial police of the city prefecture then opened an investigation. This proved fruitful. The two suspects were arrested after the investigators, in collaboration with the victim’s family, set a trap for them. After their arrest and placement in custody, the two accused were brought before the public prosecutor, then placed in pre-trial detention.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had voluntarily received the two suspects at his home in the company of other young people. Pending their trial, they are the subject of an in-depth investigation for the constitution of a criminal gang, aggravated theft, carrying weapons, kidnapping, ransom demand and attempted murder.
