New Victims Emerge in Morocco's "Hamza Mon BB" Cyberbullying Case as Trial Delayed

The Court of First Instance of Marrakech has, once again, postponed the examination of the case of the hacker involved in the "Hamza mon bb" case, originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 28. Nine other plaintiffs, working in various sectors, have come forward, thus lengthening the list of victims.

The trial of the hacker in the "Hamza mon bb" case is postponed to February 10. Among the nine new victims who have come forward is a senior official of a hotel in Marrakech. They will also be summoned at the hearing of Dounia Batma and her sister, Ibtissam, before the investigating judge, scheduled for February 11, reports h24info.ma.

According to sources close to the case, Dounia Batma has initiated proceedings against two media outlets, even though the identity of the journalists remains unknown to the general public for the moment. The singer and her sister are charged with defamation, extortion, publication of photos and dissemination of statements without the consent of their owners with the intention of intimidating and offending.

They are also being prosecuted for "participation in fraudulent access to the computer data processing system and dissemination of images and statements of others without their consent, with the aim of harming or defaming".

They risk a lot in this story, especially since, according to amendment 2-447, introduced by law no. 103.13 of chapter 447 of the Penal Code on the protection of the right to privacy, "anyone who, by any means whatsoever, including information systems, disseminates or distributes a composition consisting of a statement or an image, without his consent, shall be punished by imprisonment of one to three years, and a fine of 2,000 to 20,000 dirhams".

The month of February will make it possible to clearly identify the responsibilities in this case that is making headlines and seems to be attracting all attention.
