Unregulated Parking Attendants Spark Controversy in Morocco’s Tourist Areas

Despite the published notes and warnings from the authorities, car parks continue to experience real anarchy. No law governs these places apart from that of the attendants.
Most drivers are forced to give in to the whimsical prices set by the parking attendants, to avoid unnecessary conflicts. With a haughty attitude, they impose on users rates, claiming the high costs related to the rental of the place.
These behaviors anger more than one and discourage people from traveling by car. Not far from Marrakech, in the "Fatma" district, a place of great tourist influx, the attendants demand from visitors the advance payment of the price of 10 dirhams, without a ticket or a display panel.
In Casablanca, the same problem arises at the Aïn Diab beach, where the parking attendants demand the rate of 10 dirhams. After experiencing these unpleasant moments, often accompanied by conflict and disputes, citizens feel overwhelmed and call for the intervention of the authorities, so that they put an end to these excesses and establish strict regulations.
