Casablanca Mayor Urges Residents: Parking Fee Cap Set at 3 Dirhams

This is an official call to his constituents that the Mayor of Casablanca, Abdelaziz El Omari, has just launched. Very unhappy with the parking attendants, the residents are invited not to pay more than 3 dirhams.
The mayor has stated that the legal price of parking, set by the City Council, has been set at 3 dirhams. This statement was made on Thursday, July 4, on the sidelines of the launch of the Casablanca Administrative Police, one of whose missions will be to ensure compliance with parking in the economic capital and to sanction all abuses.
Parking has always been a major problem for Casablanca motorists. Prices generally range between 3 and 10 dirhams, or even much more in certain places, especially during the summer season. And it is not uncommon for attendants to demand 50 dirhams!
Note that the official rate, set last year by the city authorities of Casablanca, is 3 dirhams for cars, 2 dirhams for bicycles and mopeds, and 5 dirhams for trucks, regardless of the duration of the parking. Prices are doubled at night.
As for underground car parks, generally managed by private companies, they are much more expensive. They range from 5 dirhams per hour to around 30 dirhams for the whole day. Monthly subscriptions range from 400 dirhams (day) to 500 dirhams (night).
It should also be noted that the attendants disclaim any responsibility in the event of a problem with the car (theft, damage, etc.).
