Three Arrested in CNOPS Health Insurance Fraud Scheme in Morocco

The police arrested three individuals involved in the falsification of illness files of the National Social Security Fund (CNOPS) in the Beni Mellal region.
This arrest follows that of two civil servants in communes in the Beni Mellal region, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. The arrested persons - a retiree, an employee in a private company and a woman employed in a factory in the region - are involved in the falsification of medical and hospitalization files in hospitals in the region and private clinics. Their deception consists in presenting fictitious medical files to benefit from CNOPS reimbursements.
The origin of the outbreak of this case is a correspondence that the CNOPS addressed to a private clinic, in order to complete the documents of a member. He had filed the medical file to benefit from the reimbursements. To his great surprise, the CNOPS learns that the patient had undergone a surgical operation 13 years earlier in this clinic.
The CNOPS opened an investigation which later revealed that several files had also been falsified. After this finding, the fund entrusted the file to the judicial police. This led to the arrest of the civil servant of a rural commune and the main suspect, a civil servant of a commune in the same Beni Mellal region, both aged 30 and 53.
