Morocco's CNOPS Suspends Third-Party Payment at 3 Clinics Over Illegal Guarantee Checks

Following complaints from several policyholders, the National Fund for Social Welfare Organizations (CNOPS) has suspended the third-party payment system at 3 clinics.

3 clinics, 2 of which are located in Rabat and 1 in Casablanca, are in the sights of the National Fund for Social Welfare Organizations (CNOPS) for having demanded guarantee checks.

These 3 clinics are now deprived of the third-party payment system. According to the daily Aujourd’hui le Maroc, this deterrent measure was taken against these incriminated clinics, after a thorough investigation and to fight the illegal practice of guarantee checks, prohibited by the Penal Code and by Law 131-13, relating to the practice of medicine.

The same newspaper reports that the Fund will no longer provide coverage for policyholders who wish to be treated in one of these clinics, which constitutes a significant loss of revenue for the 3 clinics concerned, the same source specifies.
