Tent Encampments on Moroccan Beaches Disrupt Summer Tourism

While summer vacations rhyme with beach days, swimming and playing in the sand, setting up tents on Moroccan beaches spoils the experience.

Some vacationers have set up tents near the beaches. These tents are proliferating on the Aïn Diab beach, reports AlJarida24, which says it has observed that some families use fabrics to build tents by wrapping them around umbrellas, thus resembling mobile huts that block the light breeze and obstruct the view of the sea. They use these tents as a place to sleep and cook.

The beach, a place of relaxation and rest, thus turns into a kind of overcrowded makeshift village. And its visual aesthetics takes a hit. Many vacationers find themselves trapped between walls of fabric and umbrellas. The obstructed view represents a danger for families watching their children playing and swimming, as accidents can occur at any time or multiply.

Faced with this situation, several civil associations have called on local authorities to establish laws and restrictions to limit the proliferation of random tents. Cooperation between the authorities and citizens is the only way to preserve the beauty of the beaches and the sustainability of summer pleasure, they believe.
