Agadir Cracks Down on Beach Parasol Tents, Sparking Social Media Debate

A video showing an official removing sheets attached to parasols on an Agadir beach has gone viral, eliciting mixed reactions on social media.
This action is part of a municipal decree aimed at fighting the proliferation of parasols transformed into tents on the city’s beaches, but also in several other Moroccan cities.
These makeshift installations, although practical for protecting from the sun, are often criticized for their negative impact on the aesthetics of the beaches and the inconvenience caused to other vacationers. The municipality of Agadir has therefore decided to take matters into its own hands by formally prohibiting these practices.
The municipal decree goes further by also prohibiting the cooking of food, the use of flammable materials and any form of commerce on the beaches.
But the reaction of the local authorities of the city of Agadir does not necessarily meet with unanimous approval, some considering that this action goes against their freedom.
