Tangier: A woman in a burqa drugs an octogenarian and seizes 110,000 dirhams
The police services of Tangier are investigating a strange theft that occurred this Saturday, November 3, in the Al-Kharba neighborhood. A woman in a burqa managed to enter the home of an elderly person and drug the owner of the premises before fleeing with a large sum of money.
The events took place around 5:30 pm. According to local sources, the suspect knocked on the door and introduced herself to the victim, an octogenarian woman, as an "old acquaintance." This ruse allowed her to gain the trust of the elderly lady and enter. Taking advantage of the fact that the victim was alone at the time, the thief drugged her and stole a sum of 110,000 dirhams before disappearing.
Ongoing investigation and shock in the neighborhood
Alerted, the national and scientific police services went to the scene. They carried out fingerprint analysis and seized the surveillance camera recordings in the neighborhood. These images would show the suspect leaving the premises after committing her crime. A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the events.
