Tangier Unveils Major Road Upgrades to Ease City Traffic and Improve Accessibility

As part of the implementation of the complementary program for the urban upgrading of the Tangier metropolis, the city has just put into service new roads and roundabouts. Accessing and circulating in Tangier is now easier.

The Wilaya of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima has just put into service a new 1.5 kilometer road that connects two major arteries of the city and facilitates traffic, reports L’Economiste. Thanks to the new roads and roundabouts, the populations gain in terms of accessibility at the level of the roundabouts on the RN1 and the roundabout serving the Hassani complex, one of the large districts of the area. It is also easier to reach the new bus station and the Mesnana district. During football matches, access to the stadium becomes faster, and traffic jams are avoided, rejoices the Wilaya.

This achievement is the last link in a series of road elements intended to provide a comfort of circulation, at the level of the city of Tangier. As for the underpasses, the last (the 8th) to have been built is that of Gzenaya, which has been in service for a few months. At 55 million dirhams, it is one of the largest civil engineering works in Tangier’s road network, regulating access to the city and its economic lung, namely the TFZ and the Gzenaya industrial zone, indicates the same source.

As a result, the exit from the highway - city center journey now only takes about twenty minutes, compared to nearly an hour until recently.
