Rabat Nears Completion of Two Major Underpasses to Ease Traffic Flow

As part of the Rabat, City of Lights development program (2014-2018), the administrative capital has planned the construction of two underpasses. These road infrastructures, almost completed, will soon be inaugurated to relieve road users.
In the administrative capital of the Kingdom, the coronavirus pandemic did not prevent the city from completing construction sites started just three months ago, reports Le360. The two new underpasses are located on Bab El Had square (center) and at the intersection leading, on the way out of the city, to Témara, Casablanca and the new bus station.
These are two important projects for the integrated development of the capital, estimated at around 40 million DH over a length of 260 m. These works were entrusted to the Société Rabat Aménagement under the supervision of the wilaya and the Ministry of the Interior.
With these two new underpasses, Rabat now has a total of 14 underpasses. According to the same source, these short tunnels facilitate the movement of users on the often crowded roads. According to Ahmed, a civil engineer, often traveling in the city of Rabat, these underpasses were more than necessary. "Traffic will be much more cleared now," he assures.
In addition, the redevelopment and rehabilitation work on Bab El Alou square and boulevard, major circulation sites in the famous medina of the capital, is already underway by the local authorities to comply with the projects of the Rabat City of Lights program (2014-2018), having mobilized investments of 625 million dirhams.
