Rabat Locks Down as COVID-19 Cases Surge Ahead of Eid Al Adha

The epidemiological situation in the city of Rabat has just turned red. The increase in cases of contamination in the last 24 hours has led to the quarantine of the city.
The restrictions are taken in light of the epidemiological situation of certain cities. On Monday morning, it was at the Rabat-ville train station that travelers by train learned that only those with a valid authorization could access the city. A decision that was made before the celebration of Eid Al Adha, according to the authorities. The appearance of several cases of Covid-19 infection in certain neighborhoods of the city explains this upheaval, which is poorly perceived by many people, who denounce a brutal and sudden decision.
According to le360, the surge in Covid-19 cases was detected following "the screening of butchers in the Rachad neighborhoods in Takaddoum and Bezanta, in the Youssoufia district". Neighborhoods closed by the local authorities in order to identify the contact persons of the infected butchers. As for the inhabitants of the neighboring neighborhoods, they were called to "undergo screening tests in order to delineate the perimeter of the spread of the new coronavirus".
According to the same source, the local authorities have called on the inhabitants of the city to strictly respect the preventive measures and the rules of health safety in order to fight against the spread of the pandemic.
