Tangier Deploys Army, Restricts Movement as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Faced with the surge in coronavirus contamination cases, the local authorities of Tangier are taking the measure of the situation. Restrictions on movement in the city have been tightened, with the closure of several neighborhoods and the deployment of the army.
Concrete barriers have been placed at the entrances to the streets and boulevards of the Dchar Ben Diban, Mouadafine, Mesnana and Benkirane neighborhoods, reports Tanja24. These movement restriction measures could also be applied in other neighborhoods of the city of Tangier. These are the neighborhoods where citizens continue to trample on the confinement measures.
This decision by the local authorities follows the arrival of elements of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in the city. Their presence is part of the efforts to fight the spread of Covid-19 and the implementation of the state of health emergency.
