Tangier: Under her niqab, she robs a retiree of 50,000 dirhams

In Tangier, an elderly woman was robbed Monday evening by a stranger concealed under a niqab. Using a cruel trick, the thief posed as a benefactor in order to enter her victim’s home and steal her savings.

Once inside the residence located in the Beni Makada neighborhood, the suspect simply waited for her host to turn her back before searching a bedroom. She made off with several family jewels as well as cash loot estimated at 50,000 dirhams.

The scammer then disappeared in a taxi, her full veil preventing any identification. The forensic police went to the scene to collect evidence and attempt to find the culprit.
