Morocco: She loses 300,000 dirhams in a few minutes

The case goes back to last Monday. A 60-year-old woman was approached by two individuals in a garden near the cemetery. Using mystical rituals and intense psychological manipulation, the scammers managed to deprive the victim of her discernment.

Under their control, the lady led them to her home. The criminals convinced her to take out all her gold jewelry to "bless" it, threatening her with the imminent death of her sick mother if she refused. The loot is colossal: a value of 300,000 dirhams, the fruit of 25 years of work in traditional sewing.

Once the gold was in their hands, the scammers gave her stones wrapped in newspaper, with the strict order not to open the package until the month of Chaabane to "preserve the blessing". They then fled in a gray car driven by a third accomplice.

The reaction of the security services of Fquih Ben Salah was immediate. The rapid exploitation of surveillance cameras made it possible to identify the gang leader: a 64-year-old man, a notorious repeat offender residing in Casablanca.

A special brigade traveled to the economic capital to arrest him, only 24 hours after the facts. The suspect was placed in pre-trial detention on the orders of the prosecutor. While the mastermind is out of harm’s way, the hunt continues actively to find the two other accomplices and try to recover the stolen treasure.
