Niqab or Job: French Teacher’s Dismissal Sparks Outrage in Morocco

Many Moroccan internet users have expressed their support for a French teacher who announced on her Facebook page that she had been fired from a private school in Tangier because of her attachment to wearing the niqab.
The teacher explained in her post that during the five years she worked at this private institution, she wore a veil in the classroom to facilitate communication with the students, and put on her niqab at the end of the classes.
Despite this precaution, the French teacher says she received a warning from the school administration at the end of this school year. In the note, the principal asks her to choose between her niqab and the institution. an "unfair decision", she denounced.
The teacher’s account has sparked a wave of comments on social media. Internet users have expressed their support for the French teacher, denouncing the "blatant discrimination based on personal clothing" of which she is a victim.
They also criticized the decision of the school administration to dismiss her, arguing that this decision undermines the woman’s right to practice her religion and is unfounded, especially since the teacher has not committed any proven professional misconduct.
