Tangier Tourism Soars: Record-Breaking Visitor Numbers in Summer 2019

Tangier has joined the club of other northern cities, which, during the summer of 2019, were ranked among the most popular destinations for tourists, whether national or foreign. It has indeed recorded a record number of visitors in August. A very good season for tourism professionals, who are rubbing their hands.

Tangier experienced a tourism boom in the summer of 2019 that had an impact on the various trades in the chain, including hotels, restaurants and guiding. According to Aujourd’hui le Maroc, the tourist accommodation establishments were fully booked during this period of high demand.

The Provincial Delegate of Tourism in Tangier, Saïd Abbasi, estimates that this shows the importance of Tangier in terms of potential and attractiveness for tourists. For the newspaper, professionals hope that Tangier and its region will continue to attract even more visitors in the coming summer seasons.

The State has also supported the implementation of several projects to offer an attractive framework to visitors. The city, according to Abbasi, has seen the installation of major international hotel chains such as Hilton and Accor and other high-level tourism and leisure projects.

Tangier and its region have thus been able to develop their tourism assets, allowing visitors to engage in swimming and other water sports, as well as shopping and visits to cultural and natural sites in this destination during the summer.
