Tangier Seeks Investor for Sustainable Urban Cable Car Project

Tangier is in search of a concessionaire for a cable car project that is part of the city’s port reconversion project, but also part of a sustainable development approach (green mobility) and tourist animation of the city. A call for tenders has been launched in this regard.
By launching this call for tenders through the "SAPT" Company for the Development of the Reconversion of the Port Area of Tangier City, the municipality of Tangier intends to select a concessionaire, with the technical, human and financial skills and capacities to carry out the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a cable car system and all its components.
The implementation of the cable car project involves two phases, one mandatory and the other subject to conditions. The first phase concerns the realization of the first two sections, the first of which connects the Borj Naâm station (located near the Kasbah) to the Ferry station (located at the level of the port of Tangier city). As for the second section, it will connect the Ferry station to the Plaisance station (located near the marina).
The second phase relates to the realization of the third section connecting the Plaisance station to the Place Faro (Sour Al Maâgazine) station.
Driss Benabad, technical director of SAPT, said that the first phase of the cable car project will require a budget envelope of 240 million dirhams (MDH).
