Tangier Politician’s Family Arrested in Major Cocaine Trafficking Bust

The wife of an elected member of the Béni Makada district council in Tangier, as well as her son and daughter, have just been arrested by the judicial police of the city in flagrante delicto of cocaine trafficking.
The 32-year-old son of the municipal councilor was arrested on Wednesday by elements of the judicial police in possession of a few grams of cocaine. "The subsequent raid on his home, located in the Azzawdia neighborhood in the Béni Makada district of Tangier, resulted in the seizure of 250 grams of cocaine, mobile phones, a utility vehicle, a motorcycle, as well as an electronic precision scale," reports the daily Al Akhbar.
The son of the municipal councilor was under surveillance by the Tangier judicial police, alerted about him by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the same source informs, noting that "this surveillance was triggered following the dismantling of a hard drug trafficking network in Casablanca where the name of the accused (son of the municipal councilor) was mentioned during the investigation as a supplier of the drug, including a large quantity of psychotropic tablets."
The accused and his mother were taken into custody. As for his sister, she was released for lack of sufficient evidence. The investigation, conducted by the judicial police services of Tangier, continues.
