Moroccan Singer Weld Aicha Detained in Tangier Amid Cocaine Trafficking Investigation

Arrested and then placed in police custody in Tangier, Moroccan singer Weld Aicha is still not free to move. He is suspected of being involved in a cocaine trafficking case.
On Friday, Weld Aicha’s police custody was extended by the public prosecutor’s office of the court of first instance. The singer was arrested last Wednesday in a luxury hotel in the Malabata area of Tangier. He had just performed at the Mövenpick hotel and hosted a wedding in Tetouan the same night.
Weld Aicha was the subject of a national arrest warrant issued by the judicial police services of the Tangier police prefecture. His name was mentioned by suspects questioned by the judicial police as part of an investigation into a cocaine case. These are two individuals arrested last week, caught in the act of distributing 1.5 kg of cocaine by agents of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance and elements of the judicial police.
