Moroccan Rapper Weld Aicha Released, Faces Travel Ban Amid Cocaine Trafficking Investigation

Arrested and placed in custody for his alleged involvement in a cocaine trafficking case, singer Weld Aicha was granted provisional release with conditions on Saturday. He is prohibited from leaving the territory until the end of the investigation.
The public prosecutor’s office of the court of first instance of Tangier decided to grant provisional release to the artist, who was arrested on the basis of a national arrest warrant issued against him by the Tangier police prefecture for his alleged involvement in a cocaine trafficking case. The accused cannot leave the national territory until the end of the ongoing investigation.
Weld Aicha was released due to lack of evidence. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the judicial police are continuing the investigations to gather more elements proving the singer’s involvement in this drug trafficking. The artist was arrested in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday while hosting an evening in a nightclub in a hotel in the city.
The singer was placed under surveillance as part of an investigation targeting several alleged drug traffickers, after one of the latter, recently arrested by the police, cited his name. The investigation continues in order to shed full light on this case.
