Portuguese Fugitive Wanted by Interpol Arrested in Morocco

The judicial police of Tangier arrested on Sunday a 33-year-old Portuguese man. It would be Fábio Loureiro, a dangerous criminal wanted by the authorities of his country.
The suspect is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Portuguese authorities and an Interpol red notice. Fábio Loureiro, who entered Morocco illegally, was located thanks to information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), which allowed his arrest in Tangier, on Sunday evening.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the 33-year-old Portuguese is one of the five dangerous criminals who escaped from prison in Portugal on September 7. The fugitive arrested in Tangier was serving a 25-year prison sentence for his involvement in a criminal network and for armed robbery and threats. According to the international arrest warrant issued against him, he also faces a 31-year prison sentence.
After his arrest in Tangier, the criminal was placed in detention, pending his extradition to Portugal, within the framework of international security cooperation mechanisms.
