Tangier Police Officer Arrested in International Drug Trafficking Investigation

Another policeman on whom heavy suspicions weigh in a case where fraud and drug trafficking are intertwined. The prefectural service of the judicial police of Tangier has initiated, on Tuesday, a judicial investigation to determine the responsibilities of the agent in this case.
The police officer in question was serving at the Bni Makada police station, before being granted long-term sick leave. The investigation he is the subject of also involves a repeat offender.
In a statement, the DGSN indicates that the preliminary data of the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, already show that the police officer promised the repeat offender to act as an intermediary in order to facilitate a drug trafficking operation. In return, he will receive a sum of 360,000 dirhams.
Pending the final conclusions of the investigation to determine the ins and outs of this case, the two suspects have been taken into custody.
