Casablanca Police Officer Arrested in Extortion Scheme, Two Accomplices Detained

Three individuals, including a police officer, were arrested on Wednesday and placed in custody at the judicial police brigade of the Anfa security district in Casablanca. They are under investigation in an extortion case.
The police officer, who is the main suspect in this case and is stationed in Mohammedia, and his two accomplices were apprehended following a complaint filed by an individual who claims to have been threatened and extorted by a police officer, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the complaint, this police officer acted in this way to forcibly compel the alleged victim to honor a financial commitment towards a second suspect in this case. It was then that the police officer and one of his accomplices, as well as a third suspect who would be involved in these criminal acts, were apprehended, the same source added.
The three defendants were placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to elucidate this case, the DGSN concluded.
