Tangier Police Bust Smuggling Ring: Drugs and Illegal Alcohol Seized

A repeat offender aged 38 was arrested on Wednesday by elements of the prefectural judicial police service in Tangier, for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and smuggled alcoholic beverages.
The arrest of this individual known to the police services is part of an investigation conducted by the judicial police of Tangier, which led on Tuesday to the dismantling of a criminal network active in smuggling and trafficking, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The investigations carried out by the police allowed them to find that the accused is the main supplier of the members of this criminal network in psychotropic tablets. Moreover, the searches carried out at the home of the latter made it possible to seize 4,896 bottles of whiskey, 2,780 bottles of beer as well as a vehicle bearing false registration plates. There were also more than 770 tax stamps suspected of being used in counterfeiting and trafficking of smuggled alcoholic beverages, the statement continues.
While waiting for the conclusions of the investigation opened to identify all the people involved in this case, the accused was placed in custody, as were eight other individuals arrested on Tuesday evening as part of the same case.
