Moroccan Police Seize Over 1 Ton of Hashish in Tangier Drug Bust

The 41-year-old individual was arrested during an intervention in Bni Makada, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), specifying that the suspect, with multiple criminal records, fled during the road check, which forced a police officer to use his service weapon by firing warning shots in order to neutralize him.

Searches of the suspect’s vehicle led to the seizure of 24 bales weighing 864 kg of cannabis, the total quantity of drugs seized thus amounting to 1.107 tons.

A search carried out in a warehouse located in the Hakama region near Tangier also led to the seizure of 7 large bags containing 243 kg of drugs and an inflatable boat that would have been used in international drug trafficking operations, the DGSN added.

The person concerned was placed in custody for the purposes of the judicial investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to determine any ramifications with international drug trafficking networks and to arrest all accomplices involved in these criminal acts, the statement concluded.
