Tangier: The investigation into the mysterious helicopter accelerates on the ground
Following the report of an unidentified aircraft in the Tangier region, the authorities have intensified their ground control operations and expanded their surveillance perimeter. This reinforced system now extends from the prefecture of Tangier-Assilah to the province of Fahs-Anjra, including areas such as Aouama, Hrarech and Melloussa.
As part of these checks, a targeted intervention was carried out in the Tangier Al Balia sector at the end of last weekend. It led to the inspection of a fenced-in site suspected of serving as a logistics base, marked by the landing of a Royal Armed Forces (FAR) helicopter on site. These movements follow the observation of a low-altitude night flight, carried out without navigation lights, an operating method that led the services of the Royal Gendarmerie and the FAR to maintain a reinforced state of alert.
The investigation currently favors the trail of a link with cross-border trafficking networks. The investigators rely on technical means, in particular radar data and communication monitoring, to precisely identify the aircraft and determine its ground attachment points. Aerial and ground sweeping operations continue in order to secure the airspace of the region on a sustainable basis.
