Tangier to Install 533 Surveillance Cameras by 2027 in Major Security Upgrade

The Ministry of the Interior, the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the Northern Provinces (APDN), the Council of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region and the urban municipality of Tangier are the initiators of a major project aimed at strengthening the security of the city and even fighting crime.
A total of 533 surveillance cameras will be installed on the main roads and public squares of the city of Tangier by 2027. This is the project that the authorities intend to implement to strengthen the surveillance and control system on the streets and public squares of the city. The cameras will be installed everywhere between the neighborhoods of Beni Makada, Malabata or the medina. These devices will then be connected to a centralized control room, located at the headquarters of the Tangier police prefecture. This room will be equipped with the latest technologies to ensure efficient and optimal use of the surveillance system, says Le360. The APDN will be responsible for overseeing the entire process: the installation of more than 533 high-quality cameras, as well as the deployment of a fiber optic network, electricity and necessary infrastructure over a distance of about 20 kilometers, covering 111 strategic surveillance points.
This large-scale project requires an investment of 56 million dirhams. The Directorate General of Local Authorities will mobilize 28 million euros, while the Council of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region and the urban municipality of Tangier will each contribute 14 MDH.
