The rail link project between Tangier city station and Ibn Battouta airport is progressing. The technical and engineering studies have already been carried out, reports Tanja24. Launched by the National Railway Office (ONCF) and the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council a year ago, this project aims to connect the Tangier free zone - Gueznaia, the Ibn Battouta international airport, the new Ibn Battouta city, and the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center to the Tangier city station.
The rail link project between the station and the Ibn Battouta airport is in line with efforts to find effective and innovative solutions to the mobility problem, by studying the possibility of connecting the city of Tangier to rail services. Moreover, the Al Boughaz Intercommunal Cooperation Establishment has just launched the urban bus transport service between the Tangier airport and its railway station, an initiative that should help fill the existing deficit in this sector.
Furthermore, this project should bring added value to the transport services in the city of Tangier, which is seeking to offer varied options in this area to support the current and expected tourism dynamics in the coming years.
