Tangier Expands Video Surveillance Network in $14 Million Public Safety Initiative

The municipality of Tangier, the Ministry of the Interior, the wilaya and the council of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region and the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN) have signed an agreement for a program aimed at extending the video surveillance network in public spaces and organizing traffic and driving.

During an extraordinary session, the municipality ratified an agreement for a program aimed at extending the video surveillance network in public spaces and organizing traffic and driving. The implementation of the project requires the mobilization of 136 million dirhams. The municipality is providing a financial contribution of 56 million dirhams (MDH).
The project is spread over a period of three years. It aims to equip the public spaces of the city with video surveillance systems and to strengthen road signage, through the installation of traffic lights, in order to allow the national security services to control and manage traffic and to issue tickets for offenses. It also provides for the provision of the necessary means to fight against offenses committed on the public highway, the protection of public and private property, and the organization of the parking of freight transport vehicles.
