Casablanca Expands Urban Surveillance with $1.6 Million Camera Network

The Urban Agency of Casablanca has decided to strengthen the surveillance and control system in the streets and public squares of the city.

The Urban Agency of Casablanca plans to install an advanced video surveillance system in the city. In this sense, it has launched a call for tenders worth 16,095,583.20 DH including tax, reports Challenge. Various surveillance cameras, including PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras, will be installed as part of this project for flexible day and night surveillance, fixed cameras for continuous coverage, and specialized cameras for specific needs. These cameras will be integrated and will reinforce the existing systems. This will ensure continuous and comprehensive surveillance of the area. It is also planned to set up passive electrical and IT networks, including fiber optics and copper cables, to ensure robust and reliable connectivity, to install technical equipment in dedicated buildings, including technical rooms, administrative offices and operator stations with video walls for real-time monitoring, and to strengthen access control for better management of entries and exits in the old medina.

For the effectiveness of video surveillance, a central management system will be designed to integrate the current systems and infrastructures, with open and scalable solutions guaranteeing a long service life and future scalability. The secure proprietary network should allow the pooling of the overall resources of the stakeholders and the sharing of data with all the entities concerned. The real-time and deferred intelligent analysis capabilities should enable efficient search and processing of information. As for the storage and permanent archiving systems, they must ensure the preservation of all recorded events.

To ensure optimal use of the surveillance system, covering functional administration, equipment and software operation, and cybersecurity aspects, the training of operators and technical administrators is planned.
