Tangier’s Historic Medina to Undergo $5.4 Million Restoration Project

The Ministry of Territorial Planning is receiving financial support for the renovation of several dilapidated residential buildings in Tangier. Totaling 54 million dirhams, this financial envelope will allow the project to enter its active phase.
This financing was highly anticipated. The Agreement signed between the Ministry of Territorial Planning, the Ministry of Economy and the stakeholders involved in the project, mentions work concerning 300 buildings in an advanced state of deterioration.
According to the Agreement, the financing of the program will be ensured by the contribution of the partners, to the tune of 24 MDH for the Ministry of Territorial Planning, or an average of 80,000 dirhams per building, 20 MDH for the Regional Council, as well as 10 MDH for the City Council.
