Two Suspects Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Off-Duty Police Officer in Morocco

The Agadir court has referred Friday two individuals, suspected of being involved in the death of a police officer in Inezgane. Deeply affected by the incident, the residents called for strengthening security and health services in the popular neighborhoods.
The victim was a police officer stationed in Marrakech who had come to visit his family. He intervened in a neighborhood dispute, but received a knife wound to the neck and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The main suspect, the author of the fatal knife blow, was apprehended by the city’s security elements before being taken into custody. The second, who is none other than the second person involved in the dispute, had fled before being arrested. The two individuals were referred to the competent prosecutor’s office near the Court of Appeal in Agadir.
During the funeral of the young police officer, the residents denounced a disorganization of the city’s emergency services which had to take care of the victim. They also called for strengthening security, especially in the popular neighborhoods, to fight against drug trafficking and delinquency.
