Father and Son Sentenced in El Jadida Neighbor Murder Case

Ten years in prison for a father and twenty years for his son, both convicted in El Jadida, for the murder of their neighbor.
At first instance, the court had sentenced the father to five years in prison. The son’s conviction, on the other hand, was confirmed, i.e. 20 years of life imprisonment. According to the daily Assabah, the two individuals were prosecuted under arrest for premeditated murder against their neighbor. The latter, according to the police report, was savagely attacked by the two accused before succumbing to his injuries in the ambulance that was transporting him to the hospital.
The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie were able to note after the death of the neighbor that he had a deep wound on the left side of his chest and injuries to the shoulder and head. An investigation was opened to shed light on what could have led to the murder of the victim. The deceased’s wife was the first to be heard by the authorities.
The convicted father and his four sons as well as a relative were all subsequently arrested. He admitted that he was in conflict with the deceased, and that on the day of the tragedy, they had met by chance and the victim had surprised him first by giving him a headbutt. To defend himself, he stabbed him with a machete. His son, who received twenty years, would also have inflicted a knife blow to the chest before fleeing.
During the preliminary investigation, he told the investigating judge that he had committed this crime in self-defense, to save his father. But the various judges did not believe it and concluded, in the light of the evidence presented to them by the public prosecutor’s office, that it was a premeditated crime committed in cold blood. The verdict will therefore be thirty years cumulative for the father and his son.
