Moroccan Police Officer Killed in Line of Duty Receives Posthumous Promotion

Died after receiving a knife wound to the neck while trying to settle a neighborhood dispute on May 2 in Inezgane, police officer Mamoun Fakir received an exceptional posthumous promotion from the director of the DGST-DGSN pole, Abdellatif Hammouchi.
Killed in the line of duty, the posthumous promotion received by the police officer comes in application of the provisions of Article 8 of the Decree relating to the General Directorate of National Security. The victim was promoted to the rank of excellent police officer with retroactive effect, for the professionalism and bravery he showed during this intervention, while he was on vacation.
In addition to this distinction, the DGSN director instructed the central services in charge of the management of police human resources to ensure that the necessary arrangements are made to allow the victim’s parents to benefit from the pension, usually paid to beneficiaries in such circumstances. Mamoun Fakir died while trying to enforce the law and ensure the safety of citizens.
According to his colleagues, Mamoun Fakir was the sole financial support for his family. They hope that diligence will be made to allow his parents to quickly benefit from his pension.
It should be recalled that the two individuals involved in the murder of the police officer were referred on Friday to the competent prosecutor’s office near the Court of Appeal of Agadir. This is the main accused, the author of the knife blow to the victim’s neck, arrested the same day, and the second accomplice who was on the run.
