Suspect in Moroccan Kidnapping Ring Arrested for Murder in Algeria

The elements of the judicial police of Berrechid arrested a 25-year-old individual who would be involved in the murder of a Moroccan in the region of the Algerian city of Annaba in January. The individual would be part of a criminal network specializing in kidnappings, ransom demands and murders.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that the initial elements of the investigation show that the suspect was acting within a network bringing together Moroccan and Algerian nationals. Their targets are mainly members of the Moroccan community living in Algeria and working in crafts.
Their modus operandi consists of kidnapping these Moroccans and then demanding ransoms from their families in exchange for their release. This is how it was clearly defined thanks to the investigations that the 25-year-old man arrested in Berrechid participated in the kidnapping, sequestration and murder of a Moroccan national from Khénifra, whose body had been found, burned.
Pending the completion of the investigation entrusted to the judicial police of Khénifra, the suspect was taken into custody. The search continues to identify all the suspects, whether Moroccan or Algerian, members of this criminal network, the statement concludes.
